Bitterbeck and Yis Aye
Parlour Concert Sunday January 18th 2025
An uplifting evening of original acoustic music with some of west Cumbria’s finest folk musicians, in the relaxed and intimate surroundings of the Kirkgate’s Egremont Room. An old school collaborative ‘parlour concert’ with two wonderful bands (9 musicians) sharing the stage for a special midwinter treat.
Bitterbeck are an easy-going bunch of musical friends who perform catchy original songsin folk / blues styles, often with environmental themes – close harmonies, uplifting and finely-crafted songs to listen to, think about and sometimes dance to. Angie Power (vox), Cathy Grout (bass, vox), Dave Camlin (guitar, vox) and Keith Fitton (guitar, vox) formed a social ‘bubble’ in 2020 to make music to get through lockdown together, and then kept on playing, joined by Lindy Powell (percussion).
Yis Aye are an acoustic four piece from Cumbria playing original compositions on a variety of instruments. Creating their own genre of ‘Cumbriana’, song material meanders from forest to flea circus with many detours along the way. Personnel are:
Catherine Reding – Fiddle / accordion.
Neil Reay-Bennett – Vocals & Guitar.
Robin Moody – Fiddle / low Fiddle.
Yvonne Reay-Bennett – Flute / Whistle / Mandolin & Vocals
