Getting here by public transport

The nearest train station is in Maryport, just over 7 miles away. Regular buses run from outside the station and taxis are available. For Cockermouth Taxis, please call: 01900 826649. Buses run through Cockermouth from all directions.

Getting her by car or bike - from the North

From Carlisle and the north, continue along the A595 until you reach the roundabout signposted for Cockermouth to your left. Take the first exit and head down Gote Road and over the river. At the mini roundabout, turn left onto Crown Street. Continue straight over the mini roundabout by Wordsworth House onto Main Street. From Main Street in the centre of Cockermouth, head east over the bridge past Percy House Gallery on your left hand side. Turn right onto Market Place and then take the second right by Seth's Bar onto Kirkgate. The centre is located immediately on your left, just over the Bitter Beck.

Getting her by car or bike - from the West

From Workington and the west, continue along the A66 until you reach the roundabout signposted for Cockermouth. Take the second exit onto Low Road. At the mini roundabout past Aldi, head straight onto Crown Street. Continue straight over the mini roundabout by Wordsworth House onto Main Street. From Main Street in the centre of Cockermouth, head east over the bridge past Percy House Gallery on your left hand side. Turn right onto Market Place and then take the second right by Seth's Bar onto Kirkgate. The centre is located immediately on your left, just over the Bitter Beck.

Getting her by car or bike - from the South or East

Via Embleton: From Embleton continue west towards Cockermouth. Before reaching Cockermouth School, turn left onto St Helens Street. Continue down St Helens Street until you reach the dentist on your right hand side. There, take the left turn onto Kirkgate. The centre is located just over the Bitter Beck.

Via Lorton: From Lorton and Loweswater head north west towards Cockermouth on the B5929. Continue along the road into Cockermouth, past the rugby club until the road becomes Lorton Road. Continue over the bridge and up the slight uphill until you reach a sharp left. Don't take the left turn and head straight over the junction onto Kirkgate. Head down the hill until you reach The Bitter End on your right. Turn immediately right and you will see the Kirkgate Centre.

Via the A66: From the A66, take the fourth exit off the sheep and wool roundabout (where the Premier Inn is located) onto Lamplugh Road. Follow the road past the garage and down into Cockermouth. When you reach the first set of traffic lights, turn right onto Station Road. At the second set of traffic lights by Sainsbury's turn right again onto B5292. Continue over the bridge and up the hill until the road bends sharp right. At the bend, turn left and immediately keep left again onto Kirkgate. Head down the hill until you reach The Bitter End on your right. Turn immediately right and you will see the Kirkgate Centre.

Parking

There is plenty of parking in Cockermouth. All Saints car park outside The Kirkgate allows three hours free parking, with a disc.  Parking discs are available at the box office. The Bitter Beck car park across the road is pay and display Bitterbeck Car Park - Parking in Allerdale | ParkMe.

Access

The Kirkgate Centre is fully accessible with a ramp to the front door, a lift to the auditorium and a disabled toilet. Our accessibility statement is available here

FRIDAY NIGHT IS PIZZA NIGHT

We collaborate with local pizzeria Fermento Italian Kitchen every Friday night film night.  You can order your pizza online from Fermento and we will collect your pizza and have it delivered to your table at our Egremont Room bar prior to film screening.
