A famous novelist whose first novel became an instant classic and created a cult following around its elusive author, wakes up one morning convinced he must mend the broken relationships in his life. It has been nearly 20 years since an incident tore apart the family. For two decades, he hasn’t written a word — or left his home. In that time, he has fathered a child outside his marriage, lost his long-suffering wife, and become estranged from his two older sons. The death of an old friend jolts him into confronting his mortality, compounded by his alcoholism. He summons all his children for what may be the first and last time.
