Heritage volunteering

Our Heritage Group is entirely run by enthusiastic volunteers who:

• share a love of local history with like-minded individuals
• plan and prepare new exhibitions
• develop digital skills in cataloguing objects and photographs
• sharpen their research skills
• explore local Records Offices and Workington Library’s newspaper collection on microfilm for research purposes
• conserve artefacts
• answer online queries on local and family history
• develop interviewing and oral history skills
• work on new ways to raise the profile of local history in Cockermouth

Time commitment: monthly meetings and additional time to work on any of the above activities.
