Bringing History to you
We have a large collection of photographs and artefacts relating to aspects of life in Cockermouth through the years.
Due to the abundance of water, as Cockermouth is on the confluence of the rivers Derwent and Cocker, Cockermouth became a hive of industry. The woollen, tanning, weaving, milling and brewing industries were important, along with the manufacture of hats, linen and cotton thread.
We can visit you at your schools, retirement and care homes and workplaces with curated artefacts, slide shows, talks and exhibitions by arrangement, or we can loan packs of items with information sheets (see below). We charge a small fee for this to help with our ongoing research and cataloguing. Please email us.
