An evening with Dave Camlin and Friends

Acoustic music at its finest, an evening of uplifting and hopeful songs for a brighter future, to launch Dave’s new solo album.

A musical polymath, Dave has been the creative force behind many community music initiatives in west Cumbria over the years, including the Soundwave music organisation and the Solfest and Cumberlandia music festivals, Sing Owt! and Wild Chorus community choirs and the popular Merry Neets and Folk in the Forest folk club. He’s also a Professor of Music at Trinity Laban and the Royal College of Music in London, with an international academic profile.

While perhaps best known musically as part of local folk-rockers Tryckster and NEa cappellavirtuosos Mouthful, at heart he’s a singer / song-writer of warmth and passion.Hope Rises is a new album of solo material, recorded with long-time collaborators The Lonnings – Bex Mather (vocals), Brendan Murphy (percussion), Catherine Reding (violin, accordion) and Paul Susans (bass). The album is released digitally and also as an accompanying book of inspirational writing about the power of music making, extracted from his recent publications.

For this event, Dave is joined by The Lonnings and supported by Bitterbeck, the eco-parlour band formed in lockdown with his wife Angie Power (vocals) and Cathy Grout (bass), Keith Fitton (electric guitar) and Lindy Powell (percussion), with their characteristically infectious and joyful sound.
