Heritage Talk: The Stainmore Route and Kirkby Stephen East – 60 years on from closure

To coincide with the Stockton & Darlington Railway in Cumbria Photographic Exhibition, and to celebrate 200 years of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, Mike Thompson, Project Manager of the Stainmore Railway Co. Ltd will be joining us for our June heritage talk.

This presentation will briefly describe the rationale for the railway, and its route, and then provide an overview of both the restoration work that has been undertaken at Kirkby Stephen East over the last 30 years and some of the plans for the future.
