Quiz lovers in the Cockermouth area are gearing up for another big challenge at the Kirkgate Centre!
The Great Big Kirkgate Quiz takes place at the town’s Kirkgate Centre on Saturday, September 5. The Big Quiz has become a hugely popular, biannual part of the Kirkgate’s programme with teams of up to six people battling it out for the prizes.
Once again, quizmaster Toby Gaffney will be in charge of proceedings, just days after returning from the Edinburgh Fringe where he’s about to co-star in a production of Soaked, written by and also starring fellow Cumbrian actor Emma Rydal.
Kirkgate Chief Executive Emma Heys said: “As usual, our quizmaster extraordinaire Toby will be baffling and bamboozling us with a variety of multimedia rounds.
“It’s always a great night at the centre. The bar will be open and there’ll be snacks on the tables to keep those brains nourished! Teams of up to six can take part and, if you haven’t a team to go with, you can turn up and join one on the night.”
Cost of entry is £7 per person and, because the event is always so popular, teams are encouraged to register in advance to avoid disappointment. Tickets can be secured online at Events for 05/09/2026
The quiz starts at 7.30pm and doors open at 6.30pm.
