Cockermouth’s Kirkgate Centre is staging a Christmas party with a difference next week …. with £2 from every ticket sold going to support a local foodbank.
Popular seven-piece Cumbrian outfit Soul Junction will be bringing the best of Soul and Motown to the Kirkgate’s end of year party on Saturday, December 16 (8pm).
And for the third year running, a contribution from ticket sales will be going to the North Lakes Foodbank, which operates six centres across the former localities of Allerdale and Copeland, including one in Cockermouth.
Kirkgate Operations Manager Katie Gentry said: “A couple of years back, we decided we needed an event with a party feel to get us in the mood for Christmas.
“It’s become a bit of a tradition, and this year we’ve invited Soul Junction along to get everyone on their feet and have a dance as well as raise money for the North Lakes Foodbank. That means that £2 from every ticket sold will go directly towards helping a local family in need of support. What better way to celebrate the festive season?”
North Lakes Foodbank Manager Fiona Kerr said: “We are very grateful that the Kirkgate Centre are once again supporting us with the ticket contribution scheme.
“Donations received will go towards supporting people in crisis in communities across West Cumbria, both with food parcels and help from support services.”
Based in Penrith, Soul Junction performs all over the North of England and Scotland and is a firm festival favourite, with many main stage appearances. The high energy set includes songs by all the best Soul and Motown performers.
Tickets are just £12 and can be booked online at https://thekirkgate.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/shows/873647271 For the full range of upcoming events and films at the Kirkgate, check out Events Archive – Kirkgate Arts and Heritage
