Cockermouth. November 2010. One year after the floods.

The Christmas Light Switch-On is fast approaching and a rumour that Take That are secretly coming to perform their new single, The Flood, is spreading across the town.

A journalist arrives looking for the story of a community rebuilding. The council sees an opportunity. And one woman is still living in a block of flats slowly slipping into the river, refusing to leave.

The Flood is a new surreal comedy by Jamie Walsh, inspired by the very real rumour that Take That were secretly in Cockermouth in 2010.

Help us shape what comes next

This is the first full version of The Flood, beginning its life where it belongs – in Cockermouth.

We have big ambitions for the show, with plans to keep developing the script, grow the production and take The Flood to audiences beyond the town. These first performances are an important part of that journey and we want audiences to be part of it.

There will be an opportunity to share your thoughts after each performance, helping us shape the show’s future and make the case for its next stage of development.
